Okay, DC, You Can DIAF. Seriously. With Gasoline Panties.
Well, that's more of my money I can spend on stuff older than 1994. Yep. As of now, the new stuff is pretty much dead to me.

And the image?

Stay classy, DC. Stay classy.

I'm not much of a Clois shipper. Hell, I like Clark/Diana. (Don't shoot me, Lois!)

But this has me cringing. Because /fucked/ if I trust DC to do it right. /growls at them/
Lois: Clois :: Never More Perfectkalalanekent on June 17th, 2011 04:16 pm (UTC)
My biggest problem with Clark/Diana stems from the fact that a relationship between them is 'the norm'. Bluebirds fly with bluebirds and all that. That and this is a pairing that's been mostly stable for the last 75 years and together officially since I was a teenager. This is like being told forever don't happen and that Mom and Dad are getting a divorce, especially after DC has said time and again that they would never split them up.

And now this. And it just makes me ill.

I'm just over it. I'm over the whole fucking thing. I'll stay in movieverse and screw the comics. If they can ignore all those years of canon, I can forget their stupid reboot and all it implies.

THIS. Absolutely THIS.

I mean Clark/Superman is supposed to be the ideal when it comes to who and what you're aspiring to when it comes to being a person and relationships play a role in that. That means that he would be willing (and probably would) fight for the relationship as much as possible.

And this really is the core of my biggest issue. The implication that she's just not good enough without super powers. That she's undeserving of him despite the fact that she and Diana have several traits in common. It just frosts me. FROSTS me.

I'm starting to get very annoyed over the fact that most of the continuity of the Bat and GL books are remaining intact but that the Super Family is getting messed with so much.

That's what my biggest beef is. The vast majority of that world is just going with new team-up and such, but they're starting yet ANOTHER storyline for the Supers. Let's just burn it all to the ground AGAIN and start over. With Diana and Clark. My blood is just BOILING over this.

Oh, my eyes! That image is now in my brain....!! DC you suck ... a-holes...idiots... dummies!!

Why are they doing this?! I don't understand any of this...

'Not as it currently exists'?? *SMH*

*clings to Clois*

I know. It's just literally spitting in the eye of all the Clois fans as if we don't matter at all. It's insulting to Diana and insulting to the Clois fans. And I just get madder the longer I think about it.

I am really in a bad, bad, bad, fly-to New-York-and-punch-Didio-in-the-face kind of mood at the moment.

'Not as it currently exists'??

I don't think that means what he thinks it means. He looks like a fool talking about exploring all aspects of a relationship and then saying to explore it fully they're going to dismantle it. And by fool I mean moronic imbecile.

Lois: Lois :: Horrorkalalanekent on June 17th, 2011 04:35 pm (UTC)
I just hate this. I'm so sick over it. The fact that they would do this in the first place is compounded by the utter and complete disrespect of that image. And I can't get it out of my head. It's a disgrace to the marriage and a disgrace to Diana herself in that I can't imagine that she'd maliciously destroy their relationship. I'm just so FUCKING TIRED of DC jerking the canon and characters around.

I think it is an insult to Diana's character - and a friend of mine who actually is a big a fan of Diana as you are Lois is just as pissed about it. She was ranting to me the other day before this was even confirmed. Diana is a friend to Clark - nothing more. And she's not the kind that would destroy a marriage - hell look at her background!!

It also makes Clark look bad - what reason could they possibly give him to cheat on Lois? There is nothing that will make that look good. Do they not understand these characters at ALL?

Ugh. The whole thing is bad, Lois. :/ And by bad I mean fucked up and terrible. :(

(Icon for DC, obviously)
Lois: Lois :: Smokingkalalanekent on June 17th, 2011 05:24 pm (UTC)
Honestly, I haven't been a huge Diana fan since Lynda Carter [for this exact reason], but I have to back you up totally. Clark and Diana make great friends because the friendship has always been more important than any tension [at least in the hands of good writers]. Which is why we came to the conclusion in Heirs that we did.

And I would agree. But then again, if they reboot it so that Lois and Clark don't even know each other, *does her best DC impression* HOW CAN WE STILL CONSIDER HER A HOMEWRECKER?!?

Because 75 years of your own goddamn canon [which half you guys don't even know] makes your argument invalid.

And implies that Diana has to have a man. And a super-powered one at that.

And I can't even seriously think of what doing this this way is going to do to Clark's personality or any of the Gary-Stu bullshit they'll set up for his relationship with her.

It's bad, it sucks, and it's giving me an ulcer. Just sick.

(Anonymous) on June 17th, 2011 01:20 pm (UTC)
Well, maybe I'm being a hopeless optimist here, but maybe it just means that we.ll have to wait a while before they get togerther?

I mean, if they're doing a brand-wide reboot, it makes sense that Clark would just have arrived at the Planet, so his relationship with Lois would still be in the very early stages. And they might want to take it slow, build the partnership between them first before moving beyond to an actual romantic relationship. In that sense, the marriage would be a long ways yet.

And there's the Superman issue to consider too... Maybe in this new universe Lois is more vindicative and likely to hold a grudge that Clark didn't tell her sooner? It could be enough to create a conflict without necesarily resorting to the WW/Supes pairing.

So far, we only know snippets and soundbites (which can be interpreted every which way). We might be surprised yet...

Cheers,

Lauré :)
Lois: Clois :: Beside Youkalalanekent on June 17th, 2011 04:32 pm (UTC)
Maybe, just maybe, but I already had to go through this once back in the 80s when they did their last 'official' reboot. Not to mention the various times in the last twenty years that 'reimagined' the story. And the painful storyline for Lois fans of Kingdom Come. And the fact that they made her a extremely-nasty bitch for a while in a couple of stories.

And it's not a total reboot. Have you noticed that, of all of the boots, the major changes have been to the Super-book? And they've made quite the deal of breaking these two up? Especially after promises of not doing this as recently as late last year? Not to mention the fact that now Lois is ALWAYS going to come after Diana now and there will always been the people moaning over how Clark/Diana is official canon and Lois just came after and she's not half the woman Diana is.

This? Something I never wanted to have to deal with.

I'm out. I'm sick of trying with this company. I'll be staying post-reboot and they don't need any more of my money. I'll stay right here in my pre-2011 little world and it's epic awesome. Those with the heart, continue on.

I saw that yesterday. GOD that ***** my ****** (I almost never curse so I'm leaving it at that feal free to fill in as desired.)

What gets me is that I've never ever saw Diana with Superman OR Batman (although that one had it's curiosities.) For me it was always a case of Steve Trevor was her love interest in my mind's eye. In the same way Lois has always been there with Superman Steve Trevor has always been there for Diana. And in his case he was aware of her identity from the get go (as far as I remember), so there was always an added layer to they're relationship that the Lois and Clark relationship got only after they were engaged/married. I didn't necessarily need them marrying (for some reason they were the sort of couple I could see always dancing around the final issue but never broaching it) but I always saw him as the one she would go back to time and again. Not Superman and NEVER Superman.

What they're doing with this is discounting the "little people" the "average person that isn't "perfect." The distinct opposite of what they're intending I'm sure but that's how I see it. You know that as gung-ho Lois Lane is there, is an element of attempting to be stronger than she feels (in part through her job) and by putting these two (Clark and Diana) together they are saying that the "average Joe/Jane" is inferior.

Yeah. I'm done.
DC has pretty much lost thier god damed minds and I'm not going sit around and watch them ruin everything I love about it. And sadly? In the end this gimmic, and that is all it is, is only going to end up costing them readers. DC just pretty took itself out of the game.

All right, there shall be fic. Fix it, screw it, fuck over the reboot, have Lois go on a rampage with a very large gun, anything and everything to undo this unbelievable CRAP. >_< Who's up for a challenge?

Also, there's reboot_rejected. I have a feeling they'll be getting LOTS of traffic.
