Oh, Please, Let It Be True! Please! PLEASE!
As reported by chickadilly and also by the Krypton-Site Forums :

Kristin has confirmed that she has been let out of her smallville contract for the last season and has a new movie set for filming DURING next seasons filming schedule that she is Star and coProducer of. She talked at length with my friend about how great it was of Al and Miles to let her go early and how she really feels this will be the springboard in the series going forward to have Tom's character start his journey PROPERLY where he has to go with no more Lana intanglements hindering him.

Let it be true. OH. DEAR. GOD, let it be true!  This will save Chloe for just that much longer and that's just a blessing. This isn't officially confirmation, buuuuuut...

And please do so in a way that we'll mourn you and be sorry to see you go.

Kristin, please, please go on to bigger and better parts and make us all proud. It was the part, not you.
Gough and Millar, please advance the storyline and let's put some rocket-power in this heap! It's about time!

*hits knees and screams with excitement*

Hahaaa, I was kind of surprised I didn't get more of a reaction to that post from the Clois fans! I confess I'm slightly still hesitant to get excited because of HOW many times they've hinted at Lana dying before (I(and then Clark was always there to rescue her) that I'm scared we'll find out her car accident will be a ruse or somethinmg.

I do wonder if this is what they meant when they said the 'love triange' will be more prominant in the season finale. If Lana does die it will be the final nail on the coffin for Clark and Lex's already almost dead friendship - and HOPEFULLY Clark will FINALLY take real notice of a certain Ms. Lane. ;)

I confess I'm mixed on Kristin - as much as I dislike Lana there have been times when I was impressed with her performance (when Lana lost the baby, for example - as annoying as that storyline was I could believe her performance and angst) and yet there have been other times when she has seemed rather wooden to me. Then again Tom Welling was pretty wooden in the first couple of seasons and I think he's improved.

My old roommate swears Kristin can act - I've just never seen her as any other character than Lana.

Anyway, I'm rambling - I'm just hoping against hope this is true. :)

Oh heck - please excuse my typos and spelling errors in that comment. I need a beta reader for my own comments. LOL

I don't know how I missed this post earlier. But, please PTB, let this be so. Clana turned me off of Smallville, and thus I'm only now catching up with the show. Lana's death hopefully will help get Clark over her or at least set her aside to make room for Lois. Oh, I can't wait to see if she dies or not.

I can only hope and pray. They've run this show into the ground long enough with ZombieClana. BURY IT! NOW! And with the evil living dead that is Lana cut off, maybe we'll see the show end well at the end of next season.

I'm not sure. I want to say it was swiped from Caroline, although I don't think she made it. It was just perfect.

Definitely bounce-worthy news, methinks. And a good milestone to turn Lex and Clark against each other. *twirls with you*

AS much as I hate to say this, Lana can't die. If Lana dies, Clark will forever mourn her at this point. Lana needs to just LEAVE! We don't want Lois chasing a ghost.
Lois: Heartachekalalanekent on April 25th, 2007 05:10 pm (UTC)
The problem is: can she just leave? Clark's so obsessed with this woman that I'm not even sure leaving would stop the pattern at this point. At least this way, the Clana can get their martyr, the Clois fans can sigh with relief, the Clex can get a good cry at the final destruction of the pair's relationship, Kristin can get a job that doesn't involve insane fans, and Crack!ville can go back to the fun it's been in the past.

Best. Solution. All. Around.

I know they aren't terribly concerned with previous continuity(ies), but Lana doesn't have to die to leave the series. Divorce Lex in a conveniently messy way, take the money and go to New York to become a fashion designer (as in one of the fanfics I've read recently), or find Pete Ross and go off together (and thanks to Sam Jones III (?), that has some interesting interracial implications (well other than Terran/Kryptonian ones), and especially if he runs for Congress.

All this in a week that's seen the discovery of Kryptonite in eastern Europe and a planet around a red sun that could support earth-like life but has more than twice our gravity . . . makes one think, don't it.

You make a good point, especially via flattery. ;) I'd love to see her end up with Pete, most denitely because of the comic book continuity, but it seemed as though that spot in the series was filled by Chloe, even if she was blind as a bat about it. Actually, I'd almost prefer to see that spot go to Chloe in the end.

My biggest reservation about keeping her is that they keep them apart for long. It's become an endless cycle of fatal attraction that I'm not sure they can break realistically at this point. Every time they break them up, inevitably, you hear that saccurine melody in the background, followed by the dramatic gaze of longing between them. If they can put an end to that, and make it final, I'd love to see her continue on and become a worthwhile character again. Really, the Smallville Lana, at the beginning, was my favorite version.

And that's saying something. ;)
