Another Day In The Trenches
Here's hoping no one called out, no one is on sick leave, we keep a few items in stock, the customers aren't on auto-pilot [like last night], that the fridge at work is still stocked with energy drink the way I left it last night [or that someone made a new batch], and that I don't fall asleep or cut a bitch before closing time, which is now officially a half hour later at 10 for the next two weeks before it ticks over to 11 the week of.

I need to write The Prayer of the Christmas-Season Retail Worker. Or someone does. Lord knows we need it.

My prayer would involve too many four letter words to actually qualify as a prayer. Also death threats to parents who seem to think my kids department is actually a form of childcare they can dump their feral offspring into while they swan off to the cafe for a mocha. And also may I add that anything caffeine is not an appropriate night time beverage for your six year old. Also inappropriate? Five year olds with Sephora bags.
But I'm not bitter. Really.
And completely unrelated, we have the holidays retail mad lib up at work and I keep asking if "cunty" is an inappropriate adjective to add. So far all my managers seem to be going with yes that would be bad. I'm guessing it will have to wait until the week before christmas. It'll be more festive then, don't you think?
Still not bitter. Really.
Ah Retail during the Holidays, it really brings out my inner Uni boomer. And sad thing is, I'm a Buddhist.

I need to mention now that you are brilliant and we were absolutely retail sisters separated at birth, as we're getting more of this this year than ever.

Also, I think my boss has knows better than to even try that with us. I can't even imagine what the boys would do with one. We're already a HR nightmare half the time.

GAH! And that's the icing on the cake, isn't it? Not even a holiday you celebrate and here you have to deal with this insanity. Pagan or not, I grew up with Christmas and still celebrate it, so I don't have that to really add. You poor thing.

*extra-tight hugs, Godiva, and several Starbucks giftcards*

Good luck, darling. Only two more weeks.

Ah, it's that time of year again, eh? *pats your shoulder consolingly* God, I'm glad to be out of that...

I'm really going to try to get out before I get to my fifth Christmas there next year. I don't want that pin and I'm about sick to death of this kind of work. *makes face*
