Well, Isn't That Sick And Twisted...
Why is it that, sometimes, even when we know what a song is about and its subject matter is something that horrifies you, you can't stop listening to it? Domestic abuse is a vile and soul-destroying thing, but I can't stop listening to this song. I think what scares me the worst is that this is usually how I get my plot bunnies. Yep, kinda worrisome.

Yep, that's pretty much how I roll, too. There are some sicko songs out there that I just can't stop listening to, b/c, well, hell if I know. I must've listened to Family Tree a million times at one point.

But hey, you should hear some of the stuff I'm gathering for my Dean Winchester/Jason Todd fanmix. It's epically twisted. XD

I'm just amazed how few people know what Love The Way You Lie is about. And it just kills me that I avoided this song for the longest time, only to hear it on a fanvid and now I can't get rid of it.

At first, I thought maybe this had to do with Kal. Maybe that's why the song started talking to me. It couldn't have been Lois; we all know how that would have ended and after one hit, too. Then Kala informed me that she may have been smacked by one boyfriend, but he also would have seen the light very quickly. So I'm thinking maybe it's one of Jason's roomies in college. Not sure yet, but it would show him more of the harder side of the world.

Hmm... *nods* I can easily see any one of those three reacting VERY quickly to that sort of threat, and in Kala and Lois's case, in a semi-permanent manner. O_O Either way, there'd be hospital time.

Over here, I've been slowly discovering just how horrible a lot of the music I used to love really is. So much misogyny, ugh! >_< My Jason and Dean muses are adamant that while they might have liked certain of those songs, they sure as hell don't represent them in any way. Thank goodness! This fanmix is getting more and more insane by the minute.

:D Hey babe, just dropping in to be a pest.

At one point Lois and I discussed a past history for our Lois in college where she did land a guy in the hospital. Someone was breaking into apartments, stealing stuff, and had committed a couple rapes. Then he broke into the apartment where Lois, Cat, Tobie (and the mutable 4th roommate) were living. Needless to say, Lois went after him with the golf club they kept hidden behind the door, and the guy was arrested when he woke up from the coma. Don't know if that's still canon, but our Lois would have done that to protect her friends.

As for Kala, some guy raises a hand to her, she'll be nice. She'll help him gather up his teeth and put them in a bag to see if his orthodontist can save 'em. Do NOT mess with that girl. One of her taglines for post-Heirs is, "I gave up Empress of Earth for THIS?!?" She knows her own strength and has looked into the darkness in her own soul. She'll fuck you up if you're in the wrong.

Jason ... poor Jason. He's so very gentle 99% of the time because he is so strong, and it would be so easy for him to express his moments of anger through physical means. But this is NEVER a guy who punches walls in anger. Instead he politely takes leave of the argument, goes somewhere deserted, and ... destroys things. Then returns to continue the discussion in a rational manner, and with no indication he was ever mad.

Given his own restraint and his epic protector complex, if he finds out one of his roomies is smacking his girlfriend around, Jason will be looking for a piano to toss. But then he might get smart and do something evil and sneaky, a la Lois.

Oh yeah, that guy's lucky to be alive. XD

And I could easily see your Jason going the sneaky route. >:D

Meanwhile, my Jason Todd muse will take out a rapist, no tolerance, period. Their life is forfeit. An abuser might skate by with an arm they'll never be able to use again, though. Maybe. If he (or she) ever wakes up from the coma.

I'm assuming you're talking about Love The Way You Lie? Because I'm disturbingly fascinated with that song myself. Also because it's Rihanna who sings it... *ponders*

Oh, yes. I think that's part of it, too. Eminem, who has struggled with it with his ex-wife, and Rihanna, who was very publicly shown to be a victim, both singing this song about an explosively passionate relationship?

It just freaks me out how this song won't let me go. I just keep hearing it.

It's the phase "Is this what happens when a tornado meets a volcano?" that draws me somehow... That, and the ending...

Maybe that's it, because I really do love that description.

I must be sick and twisted to because I love 'love the way you lie'. Love the film clip too

It's just so dysfuctional and messed up and I can't stop listening to it. And I don't know why. I really don't.
