Agreed. Totally my response to people that say Lois doesn't appreciate him. Suck it, haters.

I was just whining to either lady_sarai orzoe_chan about how frustrated I was getting with reading Smallville fics because a lot have great plots & good writing but villianise Lois or Clark or both when they're Chloe or Ollie or Chlollie fics. OTOH, I've also seen a lot of Lois or Clark or Clois fics that make Ollie & Chloe utterly unlikeable. The alternative are the fics that treat all the characters well & IC but the plot/writing is... not wonderful.

Which makes me sadface because I loooooooooove Lois & Clark & Chloe & Ollie & Clois & Chlollie & the whole world, boom-de-yadda boom-de-yadda, boom-de-yadda, boom-de-yadda. *siiiiiiiiighs*

And maybe I should give them a chance because there were a few movieverse fics that started out with Rochard looking douchey. I wouldn't have finished them but I was STARVED for fics and in the end, I realised he was just reacting like a normal person at the time. Which = yay! Maybe when I have more time to read.

And I also don't like SR fics that refer to Clark as Jason's "real" dad whether explicitly or by everyone's actions/thoughts because the only person who should have thoughts like that ever so briefly would be Richard. Clark certainly wouldn't since he was raised by someone who isn't biologically his father & Lois certainly wouldn't because her biological dad is such a douche that she got herself a Dad-in-Spirit. THEN there are also the fics where Jason is peachy-keen & untroubled when Richard is suddenly out of his life with Clark as the replacement within like one week.

ALSO Starbucks over-roasts their beans, running SUCKS, I'm breaking out in a frillion zits & I want these headbands. Please.

I think the biggest problem with a lot of Smallville fic is that it's all about the ship in most cases. And a lot of people ship certain pairings to the exclusion of others. Then again, I don't read that many SV fics for that exact reason, so I'm not really qualified to pick at it. But I know where you're coming from. I hate that people feel the need to demonize other characters to make their favorites look best. It's not the hallmark of a balanced writer.

Richard is a character you have to be SO careful with. It's the easiest thing in the world to make him look like an asshole, which gives Lois the perfect out to leave him. But it's not fair to the way he was shown in SR. There's a very fine line you cross when you take him on. We all know the tales of me wanting to give him a quick, heroic, painless death in LS. I'm VERY thankful that Anissa talked me out of it. He's very much grown to be one of my favorite characters to write and I'm glad that Lois didn't have to lose him for both of them to move on. I couldn't imagine the series without him now.

And there's another fine line. Both men are his father, but you have to respect all of time Richard put in helping raise him. The timeline varies from fic to fic how long he was in their lives and just how Jason was considered Richard's, but he was the only one that boy knew as his father ever. That much is clear. Now Clark has a genetic claim on the child, true, yet he needs to prove him before Jason will ever look at it that way. Same with the instant 'my Daddy Superman' business. Totally not true to the reality of a five-year-old child.

XD I love your awesome randomness. *snugs* I love the headbands, but I could just imagine the looks I'd get at work. XD

I'm extremely skeptical of the comics these days, especially since I only find like three issues I enjoy a year. But the ones I love, I really love. :D
