Hey, work-life and inventory-prep, go DIAF and take a certain MOD with you. I'm sick of baby-sitting, doing twice the work for half the pay, and of being left holding the bag and getting in trouble for it. Especially when I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be doing with the bag.

No love and no more of my frustration-induced tears, if I can help it,

On the Verge of: infuriatedinfuriated and hurt

*hugs* Work sucks, there's really no other way to say it. Hope it gets better.

Will it help if I told you I just started on the eBook for LS? I'm getting the story off the Big Apricot which is a lot easier than off FF.net. BTW, so far as I can see there are no author's notes on BA, is this the case all the way through? If you can remember from when you posted it'll cut down a lot of time I have to spend searching.

*more hugs* Sorry for a sucky day.

I'm excited to see the ebook! :D

Oh, do you read eBooks too? (and if so what format?)

Since I got it I've been looking for ways to fit my whole life on my iPhone and this is the best way I've found to get all my fanfic into an offline form.

I've already done the IAL series as one eBook. You can see some screenshots of it on my iPhone in the comments here.

PS- you don't happen to have a cover for them do you? (LS or IAL) I know you're the one who makes all the awesome banners. Could you modify on into like a book cover. Not strictly necessary but looks pretty.

PPS- can you tell I'm excited about eBooks? :P
januaried: gen + readingjanuaried on February 18th, 2010 06:04 am (UTC)
LOL, actually I just read PDFs. I would love to have an ebook reader, but it's too expensive for me and I want to wait a few years until they have one that works for all formats, is more advanced and cheaper, etc. But anyway, I think it's awesome that you're making ebooks for fanfic.

I...kind of have covers for them. They're really just manips that are too small for covers, but I can fiddle around with them...that would be fun. I'll see what I can come up with. Is it going to be oriented sideways or vertically?
Grace: Text; Comp; Friendsrepmetsyrrah on February 18th, 2010 06:12 am (UTC)
I've tried converting them to PDFs but it didn't quite work. I may figure out how to do it later when I have time. You don't have an iPod touch do you? I use an app called Stanza which is brilliant and available on the Touch. I've heard good things about the Kindle but that could just be good marketing :P

The ones that look best are the ones that look like regular book covers (with titles and authors etc.) so vertically (which is the opposite of the banners I know) It's not too important though so don't stress but if just if you do have anything it'd be cool.
januaried: gen + photoshopjanuaried on February 18th, 2010 04:53 pm (UTC)
Huh. I hope you figure out how to do it, because I won't be able to read it otherwise, lol. Nope, don't have an iTouch thingy.

Okay, I'll come up with something. That should be fun, I always wanted to make book covers. :D

A good tool for doing PDFs is pdf995, totally free here: http://www.pdf995.com/

It takes a little reading through the instructions to get the hang of it, but once you install it and really start using it, it's a piece of cake to work with. :) You just put your pieces together in a doc file, and if you have more than one, it'll seam them together for you and convert the whole shebang to PDF.

Hope that helps!

It's really just one manager and his BS of blaming the older employees for things he does wrong. I'm just totally over him.

And yes! You are SOOO awesome! And the author notes really aren't that important. I'm usually saying something totally random about posting and such.

*snuggles* Hey, this goes a long way to making the suck of the day less. Thank you SO MUCH for the work you're putting into these!
Grace: Brandon; Evil Grinrepmetsyrrah on February 19th, 2010 01:44 am (UTC)
Actually, I'm trying to make it look as much like a proper book as I can so I don't want author's notes(although I left in your dedication at the end). It saves so much time when I don't have to go find all the ANs and take them out.

Glad it brightened your day, linked you to the first try on my LJ post and an ereader that works so much better than Desktop Stanza.

And I'll say again, I'm just having so much fun doing these it doesn't feel like work at all.

Sorry your day has been rough. **hugs** Work sucks. Let me beat them up for you.

Awwww! You should have seen me laugh when I saw this. And I'd TOTALLY let you beat up the man. He's stick-skinny; you wouldn't even have to put up much effort. ;)

*snugs* Thanks, love!

*stares pointedly at the icon*

That's just... Shit, that's hilarious. It's like watching a slow-motion car wreck. You don't want to see it, but you can't look away...

I'm so sorry that work is being a PITA. *more huggles*

Awww! Love AND chocolate! What more could you ask?

It's just that one manager. And he rubs everyone the wrong way. I think I'm just reaching my limit with him. *kicks him*

*snuggles* Thanks, love! I needed that!

*snugs* Aww, honey, that sucks. *settles you in the nice comfy chair with a mug of hot chocolate and a blanket over your feet*

Want me and my muses to go beat them up for you? I have a couple of Delta Force soldiers who would only be too happy to teach them some manners...
Lois: LS :: Lois Jason :: Never Doubt Lovekalalanekent on February 18th, 2010 06:46 pm (UTC)
*snugs* Tamma, how do you always know when to swoop in and save the day? *loves you like mad*

And I'd love for you to let the boys loose on him. But he's skinny as a rail and not too right, so I'm afraid he won't be too big a challenge. Nevertheless.... :D

Thank you, bb! That image totally helped. Just thinking about it had me laughing. Love you! ♥

I just really need to get out of there, but the job market is not too peachy keen right now here in Jax. I think I'm going to start looking again, though. It's just getting to the point of utter foolishness in there now.

I think the inventory craziness is part of the reason I love working in museums as much as I can (I'm at least lucky that my hubby has a good enough job that I can just volunteer in the meantime). I sometimes have to wonder WHY I have (and occasionally still do) considered opening a small business.
Lois: LS :: Lois Jason :: Never Doubt Lovekalalanekent on February 21st, 2010 02:10 pm (UTC)
*cross fingers* I'm hoping to one day find the perfect job and never have to do any of this inventory mess again. And I'm really expecting this to awful. Like people-may-be-fired bad.
