On Mountain Time :: Day Three
The weather was pretty bad on Monday, which was my day in Asheville, so here's Tuesday and Anissa's day out. I think I may have a few photos on my camera of Asheville, so stay tuned.

April's Buddy, Mr. Mist. He forcibly hung out with us for the rest of the trip. He was like the annoying ex-boyfriend that just wouldn't leave. We should have called him Elliot.

Anissa weirding me out and then taking a picture of it at the entrance to Linville Caverns; Linville, NC

Inside Linville Caverns (I wish I could remember the names of the specific formation; alas, I do not. Hopefully Anissa does).

Our trip mascot, Nugget the Bat. He was hibernating in the caverns and our tour guide was too awesome. She made sure that Boo and I were right there in front of the sleepy little guy when she turned on the flash-light. Being the sickos that we are, April and I squealed our enjoyment quite loudly. This is the second time I've been this close to a real, live bat. The other time was also here. I love this place.

One last set of photos on the 'Ridge before dark.

Luray Caverns is a local place up here, that has the most amazing formations on the East Coast, I think. And Skyline Drive is a lot like the Blue Ridge Pkwy, I think. It winds over the top of the mountain ridge, with lots of overlooks and hiking trails. So gorgeous, gods!

*makes mental note to visit both in the future*

:D

IIRC, Skyline Drive actually connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's in the neighborhood of Shenandoah National Park, yes?

If Lois and I ever manage to rent an RV and do a long, thorough trip of the BRP from Great Smokey Mountains National Park up to Shenandoah, y'all can join us.

Yep, Skyline runs all the way through the park, and turns into the Blue Ridge at the southern end. I think the furthest south we've gone is Big Meadows, but I'd LOVE to drive all the way down. :D

Maybe that's something we could plan for the Supes MV fandom meet-up, too? There are a ton of cabins up there, and lots of cool hikes, both long and short. Those coming from the north could come down Skyline and meet those from the South somewhere in the middle of the whole shebang. *ponders*
