I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends...
I have another favor to ask, you guys. My Dad was employed by the Florida Times-Union for thirty years until he was forced to retire in September of last year and he's having the world's worst time finding something new. I know that times are tough for all of us right now and that jobs are in extremely short supply, but what job and resume engines are currently the best to use? I stopped him from using Craigslist, but I'm not sure where else to angle him toward.

It breaks my heart to even have to do this. It's not fair that, after all this time and all of his experience, he has to try this hard to find something new. There's nothing worse then watching a man who is more than capable and more than willing struggle the way I've been watching Daddy do for the last year. Any help and every prayer you can manage would help emmensely. I hate feeling this helpless. This is one of those times when I wish I did have a publishing deal, just so I could take care of the rest of the family. As much as I loathe my job right now, I'm doing far better than my parents. This just isn't fair to them. Not after the struggle they had to raise us with so little in the house. They deserve so much better.

It's been almost a year since they put him out and I think it's just really taking a toll on him. He's used to being the bread-winner in the hour and it's Mom that's having to run the show right now and without that much money. I hate watching how hurt he is over all of this.

I'm prayin honey!

The ideas I had were already suggested but I'll be back if I find anything good.

In the meantime I'm praying *hugs*

Any and all prayers would be greatly appreciated at this point. I just want to see things get better for them. And I wish I had the money to spare at the moment to make their lives easier.

And do let me know if you run across anything else. *hugs*

Work search :)
Hi, Charles here.

I saw a lot of great job search listings already. I recommend a state govt. facility for where you live. The unemployment agency will usually assist you in finding work. As for a resume, I suggest Resumebuilder.com I hope he finds something soon, remember, he only needs one yes :) You absolutely have my prayers. I know it will all turn out for the best. He just hasn't found his dream job yet :)

P.S. What about public transportation, or the post office? Good luck and be well :)

Re: Work search :)
Thanks for all the suggestions, Charles. I haven't heard back from Dad yet, but I'm hoping that all of these suggestions have given him something. He worked for the census bureau for a time, so I'd love to see him in another government job. *crosses fingers*
