Also saw 'Crimson' finally! Other than the Lousy, Stupid, God-Could-We-Please-End-This-NonCanon-Idiosy-That Is-Clana-PLEASE!!!!, the episode was great. VERY tired of co-dependant-on-Lana-crack Clark. I'm with Lois. What does she have, other than the astonishing ability to alternately bitch and cry? She's a pretty crier, I'll give her that. And she does scared and frightened well. Poor Kristin Kreuk. So pretty, but with absolutely a train-wreck of a character to play. *disgusted sigh* This is why I stayed out of Smallville for so long. I can only handle their Lana...or any Lana...for so long. Eventually youwant to just going all Saving Jane's Girl Next Door On Her and holler, "Everybody loves her, but I just wanna hit her!"

So what's with the ending? Is she going to play Lana-the-Krypton-Slayer again? *another eyeroll* God, Caroline, pass me the bucket on that note, please? All of these notes, really. Been there, done that, MOVE ON!!!

But, on a sweeter note, I think we've finally found a good use for Bad!Kal. See, Red K isn't always bad. I mean he did point out so truths at the party and he is *very* well-behaved (comparatively) with Lois. And the whole DP section and the stuff at Ollie's was great. Love the 'acting like a girl' comment from Jimmy, too. This was such fun. XD

For some strange reason, this episode made me want to sigh and have a lobotomy at the same time. Can you imagion the emotional whirlwind I've been in all day?? : D

Hey! I sent you a Valentine, but it isn't showing up! *scratches head*
Loiskalalanekent on February 3rd, 2007 01:09 am (UTC)
Weird. Maybe it takes time to show up.

And about 'Crimson', I know, right? I like the summary there with Martha, though. "Kiss Lois, keep Chloe in my back pocket, while I'm still in love with Lana?" Ummm, yeah, Clark. That's how it looks. I could have slapped him myself when hestopped in the middle to get nosey over the invite. Kal, you jerk. I really would have hit him.
sean_montgomery: Me-amusedsean_montgomery on February 3rd, 2007 01:12 am (UTC)
Oh, there it is. Okay. I feel better now. : )

I think that Martha had the best line in the series a little while after Clark said that line (which was a great summary) - "Clark, I think you just need to leave Lana alone." I think I could hear a bunch of people screaming after that line (myself included). Heck, I might have even heard Caroline and Barb! : D
Loiskalalanekent on February 3rd, 2007 01:23 am (UTC)
You would have heard it here, too, had I been able to watch it last night with the rest of you. It's OVER! They're *awful* for each other. Look what happens every time they're together! It always ends badly! What does this tell you?

She's just trouble. Every single time I watch Crackville now, I remind myself just how little I want my Lana like her. I swear, she has no idea what she wants, even when these boys give her what she wants on a silver platter.
sean_montgomery: Me-amusedsean_montgomery on February 3rd, 2007 01:28 am (UTC)
Everytime I watch Crackville, I'm reminded why I haven't written a fic with Lana yet! : D

She's turning into one of those soap characters, it seems like - the ones that have the triangle romance that turns into the affiar because they find the other guy, but then the other guy reveals that he's (enter your deranged, soap-ish plotline here), and the girl is all mopey and whiney because she can't have the other guy, and she's broken the heart of the first guy who won't take her back?

Geez, I sound like I know what I'm talking about! I've never seen a soap in my life! : D Lana's clueless! And all these Clana shippers who say, "Boo Lois! Clark should be with Lana!" have no idea what they're talking about!

Loiskalalanekent on February 3rd, 2007 01:40 am (UTC)
Yes, well, idiot me couldn't wait for the episode to be uploaded this morning and so went to Kryptonsite to get the spoilers. *groans and covers her eyes* One of the first posts was 'Clois fans got *owned* Clana alive and well!' *groans again* Get a life, guys.

They've been playing that relationship since day one without it ever completely going anywhere positive. Together, apart, together, apart. Lana says in Crimson that she's never really been happy. Maybe she should *STICK TO ONE MAN FOR LONGER THAN TWENTY SECONDS*! I swear she's dated more people than anyone else on the show! God!

Do I really want to open this can of worms...

When Smallville first came on, I was a loyal viewer, but I haven't watched for awhile. The problem that struck (i.e., "irritated") me early on was... shall we say a 'lack of creativity? Taking the easy way out? Reinventing Kryptonite? And trying to force fit the Superman mythos into formulaic episodic television. They use kryptonite as a crutch, and try to rewind at the end of every episode so that the story arc hardly progress.

And they ignore canon. In the comicverse, Metropolis is near to or replaced Dover, R.I.; In the movieverse (depending on the director), it either replaces NYC or a good chuck of New Jersey. It is on the Easter Seaboard. It is NOT in Kansas. (The writers should have used Wichita or Topeka as the nearby major city instead). The introduction of other DC superheroes, some of whom didn't start that until much older in canon, is another crutch. Also, Lana is Clark's childhood crush. As in, his feelings for her fade; he moves on. Lois is his future. The on again/off again angst with Lana has been particularly hard to watch. Geez.

Yes, I watched 'Crimson'. And I still see lazy writing with the kryptonite, and the magic amnesia at the end. It would be far more interesting if Lois remembered Clark's amazing feat, but noooooo. She has amnesia.

On the plus side, the series gets a thumbs up for the initial meteor shower that hid the escape ship when Clark initially came to Earth; Love Cloe as the loyal best friend. I tended to like the story that aren't based on Kryptonite (meteor freaks) or Clark's pathetic pursuit of Lana. The lazy writers are squandering a great concept.

Love the clips, though. Thanks for that.
Loiskalalanekent on February 3rd, 2007 01:33 am (UTC)
And he reappears in his usual way: with a highly-intelligent rant against the insanity that is non-canon Superman media. Brian, is it truly possible to love you any more than I possibly do without breaking up a twelve-year relationship? And you do note that the clips I have are relatively Clana-free, right? :D

*laughs happily as she hugs the third twin*

Where have you been this time? Taking time off to cut Ilya off at the ankles without me? And you're back just in time, too. New chappie tomorrow.
Brian's FanFic Journal: Headshotmr_beeto on February 3rd, 2007 02:15 am (UTC)
*(sings) you wish you never ever met her at all...* Well, my take on Lana isn't quite that extreme - it is canon for Clark to have had a teenage crush on her. Time to move on though.

I've been swamped and distracted, so I'm a bit behind in my posts so far. Still managed to stay on the fitness bandwagon somehow, losing 9 pounds of fat and gaining 3½ pounds of muscle since the first of the year. Not so well on the story, though. I've been seriously distracted my a very appealing AU take on SR, instead of focusing on reorganizing the chapter outline for HIWTHI so I can actually finish the chapter (and the story) in this lifetime.

I know you're going to ask (The rest of the text is grey, though I don't know how well that will hide the potential spoilers). The idea is for an actual valid reason for Supes to go back to Krypton. Astronomers found Krypton? Come on! In canon, it's in another galazy! That's, what? 6½ billion light years away? We can barely detect planets a few dozen light years away, and even then, only gas giants, and only by measuring the gravitational wobble as the large mass orbits, as measured by the red shift in the mass spectrometer. The idea is that Lex still tries to pull off that hoax, and Supes quickly realizes that it IS a hoax. However, when he gets an incoming distress call at the Fortress from 13-year old Kara Zor-El, whose ship was disabled in the shockwave from the supernova of Krypton's sun, there's only one thing he can do... The issue of him leaving without saying good-bye is still there, which has potential. Though, I actually have a post-SR scenario in my head of Lois taking in Kara as a foster child (without first consulting Richard). Later, when Kara and Jason are both forced into action to protect the family, Richard assumes that she's Kal-El's daughter. (An assuption that Lois declines to correct). That's been playing in my mind in a continuous loop, and blocking my progress on HIWTHI. Obviously, this is NOT the HIWTHI universe.

In the reveal, Lois and Richard are in Perry's office with Jimmy Olsen, Kara and Jason (and Kara's new best friend, Julie), while Perry rants about an urban legend called 'Supergirl' (she's never been caught on camera). It's late, the bullpen's practically empty, when a suspicious package get delivered to Lois, with a bomb inside, packed with Kryptonite. Richard ignores Kara's concerns and opens it. She pulls it out his hands milliseconds before it explodes. She shields the others from the blast, but is peppered with Kryptonite shrapnel. She turns towards the others, her civilian clothes incinerated, the shrapnel damage clear for all to see. Her eyes roll back, she collapses and falls out the window. Jason dives out the window after her, only to reappear floating through the window a moment later, dragging the unconscious Supergirl behind him like he would a teddy bear, before he too collapses. Lois immediately pulls out her cell phone and issues the voice command 'Call Superman'. He quickly shows up in a lead-lined suit and a Kryptonite Emergency Kit to tend to her wounds. She quickly recovers.

It's the argument that follows that I've been having a lot of fun with, without yet writing a word of it, and to the detriment of HIWTHI.
Loiskalalanekent on February 3rd, 2007 02:22 am (UTC)
WOW! Now I understand the distraction! That's one heck of a story you have following you around, Brian! I can't wait to lay eyes on this. I'm all ears! :D

I've wanted to do something about Kara for a while now, but there just isn't room or sense in putting her in LS. Might look into it for 'Heirs', though. She'd be an interesting addition to the setup, as well as in keeping with the movieverse, but still...

Then again, your atek on her will be out long before ours. No 'Heirs', other than for V-Day, until LS is over...

Oh, and I LOVE this particular plot bunny. If only it would go away long enough for me to finish HIWTHI. There's only a couple more chapters to go...
Loiskalalanekent on February 3rd, 2007 02:33 am (UTC)
You *and* B are almost done? OMG. Just promise that you'll give in afterwards to the plot bunny and stay with us here in the SR community. I'm so nervous about B being sucked back into the Aracnid-verse...
Brian's FanFic Journal: Superman Seriousmr_beeto on February 3rd, 2007 02:43 am (UTC)
I've got another AU Kara Zor-El plot bunny where she's a toddler instead of a teen. Clark's been buying LOTS of pull-ups. In this storyline, Clark will introduce her to his DP friends as his daughter, and claim her mother was lost in a tsunami in Thailand. In this AU, her daycare is right next to Jason's school. Lois offers to pick her up for Clark the day of the Pulitzer's. She with Lois when she boards the Gertrude. Jason still tosses the piano, but Kara reduces the locked pantry door to a crumbled mess.

How awkward to you think her next conversation with Clark is going to be?

(( "Brian, is it truly possible to love you any more than I possibly do without breaking up a twelve-year relationship?" ))

It freakin' well better be. *growls* Dammit, I *have* my Lois, and I'm not gonna leave her, not even to go back to my home planet. Not for a high school crush, either. If someone tries to be Richard White in our lives, he's gonna get a BIG surprise.

We love you Brian, it's just that Lois likes me to be a little bit jealous. *grins* Besides, I like being able to say I have better sense than a superhero.
