Does Stephen King Know That Some Bastard Ruined His Novella?
I need an icon for utterly freaking furious loathing HATRED! Has anyone else seen The Mist? I'm literally shaking with anger as I write this. There are no words for how much the last ten minutes effected me. This was my all-time favorite novella ever by Stephen King. Now...

I really have no words for this. I'm heartbroken. Utterly heartbroken.

...

Never again.

Never again will see one of Stephen's movies. Nothing beyond this point.

My heart just can't take it.

And the worst part? Frank Darabont was the writer of my two favorite films, The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redeption. The only description for how this makes me feel is not something I can post here.

I can't describe how this makes me feel. A part of me died watching this.

I was going to see it but...

Really? That traumatising? I might have to stop my mum from seeing it. She's a big fan too. I'm totally going off topic but SHE STOLE MY COPY OF IT!!!

I remember reading my first few swearwords in a Stephen King novel. I originally thought novelists weren't allowed to use swearwords or they'd get in trouble. I was a strange child.

Don't. If you've read the original novella and liked it, the ending will ruin you. There's a reason why it was out of theaters in record time.

Spoiler Alert!
Four needless deaths, including that of a child? No, no, it's not fun in the least.

*takes a healthy swig from the bottle*

I saw The Mist a while ago, and the ending made me pretty mad. What was different in the novella??

Spoiler Alert
None of the people in the car at the end died. They tried to go back for Stephanie (David's wife), but they could never get back into the property far enough to find her. You were left with the possibility that she might maybe have made it.

The scene with the huge monster that walked over the car happened just before they made it to an abandoned Howard Johnson that the creatures hadn't gotten into and everyone but David was sleeping as it ended. David found a faint radio station playing on the far end of the band.

The last two word of the novella were David whispering to wors into Billy's sleeping ear: Hartford (where the station was out of) and Hope.

Read the novella. It will make you feel better. It's the first story in the book Skeleton Crew and definitely worth the read.

Re: Spoiler Alert
Wow, books are usually better then the movie adaptation. I've seen the movie (never read the book) and hated the ending. I must go tell my mom that the book ending ended much happier then the movie. I would have been totally mad if I read the book and saw the movie's ending. That's so totally wrong.

Re: Spoiler Alert
Wow, the movie was a 180 degree turn from the novella. Stephen'a name was all over the promotions. He definitely knew about it. Wasn't there a special feature on the DVD with a conversation between the director and Stephen? I didn't listen to it, but it appears they were in complete agreement.

I guess they wanted more shock value. It just left a bad taste in my mouth!!
